Plymouth Argaum suffered their second defeat of the season and the first one on the road as they came up against a very good Devonport Services II side at a sunny Rectory yesterday. With echoes of lasts season's early season encounter the hosts youthful exuberance proved too much to contain at times and the result probably wasn't in doubt when they crossed for their bonus point try just before half time. Unlike last year though, Argaum were determined not to come away empty handed and secured a bonus point try with minutes to spare. The fact that they then crossed for a fifth before full time was an unexpected bonus but nothing less than what they deserved on an afternoon of high entertainment. Chiefs main weapon was the driving maul with the usual suspects, Holliday, Smith and Worboys prominent, however it was the newly-slimline Tom Mann, operating at loose head who found himself in the prime position to capitalize on no less than four occasions. Its been some time since an Argaum player has crossed the whitewash as frequently. Holliday grabbed the other try and McCreath slotted two conversions as Argaum continue to show that they have improved from last season.
